Nudge uses high‑frequency sound waves to interact with the brain without surgery or implants. Their device can focus these waves very precisely on small brain areas, using MRI to guide it and see how the brain reacts. The sound waves don't read thoughts or control your brain. They just nudge neurons to be slightly more or less active, letting researchers study how brain circuits work. Nudge ran a tinnitus study to see how this kind of stimulation affects brain activity in people with ringing in their ears. This was not a treatment study. It was just to collect data and learn which brain circuits are involved. The study is currently paused, meaning they aren't taking new participants right now. Nudge hasn't given a detailed reason, but it seems they are focusing on finishing other research first. Pausing early studies is normal in experimental work like this, especially when the tools and safety measures are still being tested. Using ultrasound to study tinnitus is still very new, and it will be years before it could become a treatment. People interested in the research can sign up on Nudge's website to be notified if the study opens again.
