Hey everyone, I recently came across a book called "Tinnitus: Turning the Volume Down" by Kevin Hogan, PsyD and wanted to ask about it here. I did a bit of quick research and it seems like it focuses on psychological techniques to help reduce how loud tinnitus feels. From what I read, the author claims you can train your brain to tune out the ringing over time. It also looks like it includes things like stress reduction, mindset changes, and even some self-hypnosis methods. I noticed that it is sometimes sold as part of a larger program with audio materials, which made me a bit curious. Some sources say the ideas overlap with real approaches like habituation, but others suggest it might be more anecdotal. I could not find a clear consensus on how effective it actually is. I am especially interested in whether it provides practical techniques that actually help day to day. Has anyone here read this book or tried the program? Did you find it useful or just more of a general self-help approach? I would appreciate any honest feedback before I decide whether to pick it up.
